Sekyeong has been serving as a church musician for over 10 years. She performs diverse styles of church music for contemporary, traditional, and blended worships. She plays various keyboard instruments- including piano, synthesizer, and organ for solo performance- and performs in various instrumental groups for choral, instrumental, and congregational music.

She builds a nurturing musical environment, by contributing qualitatively and quantitatively considered programming selections for preludes, offertories, and postludes. Her musical repertoire encompasses hymns, classical and contemporary gospel, new age, and jazz. She caters to a variety of congregations’ tastes, by making balanced mixtures from diverse musical genres. She is very sensitive to creating fellowship and pious feelings within the congregation-dispensing services to buoy and to energize the audience.

“A few years ago, we needed to find a new pianist for our church. Several auditions in, we were feeling discouraged. Then Sekyeong Seong took her seat at the piano, and we knew we had struck gold! It’s not just her work ethic and her technical mastery. It’s not just her skill at crafting alternative harmonizations. It’s not just her ability to build an energetic piano part from a bare bones lead sheet. It’s not just her musical style, which is fluid and melodic. And it’s not just her awareness of and interplay with a singing congregation. It’s also her warm spirit and winning smile. We struck gold, because Sekyeong is a gem. We are blessed to have her!”

- Rev. Robert A. Arbogast, pastor Olentangy (Christian Reformed) Church Columbus, Ohio
“What a great pleasure to share how much I have been enjoying Sekyeong’s wonderful performance every Sunday at worship. For a few years now, I have come a bit early just to hear her rehearsing before the church service begins. She can play a wide range of songs spanning both the classic hymns and all of the newer trendy songs. Her deep interpretation of various styles are well connected with our church. Also, since she is originally from South Korea, her musical choices reflect her heritage, and she plays across both Asian and American church music. Her music makes us feel warmly connected with Asian Christians in our belief in God. Her whole-hearted music brings a breath of fresh air to our congregation. In her passion for God, her music edifies, extols, moves, and touches the hearts of our congregation in a powerful way. She is truly a gifted musician by the grace of God.”

“We have been fortunate at Olentangy Church to have Sekyeong Seong as our pianist for over three years. Sekyeong plays a wide variety of music during worship services. From traditional Christian hymns to contemporary worship songs, she has graced our services with beautiful music. Sekyeong has played solo pieces but has also had to accommodate playing with additional musicians on guitars, violin and flute. She has a wonderful talent of bringing out the best in not only herself but also the talent of fellow musicians. I have heard Sekyeong in solo concerts, during her last year at Ohio State and sat enraptured by her ability to handle the technical difficulty of the piece along with the empathetic expression she brought to the performance. After the church worship service ends, Sekyeong plays music of her choice as a postlude. I stay and listen each week and enjoy her selections. She has at times chosen to play Korean gospel songs. I feel most fortunate to have the opportunity to hear music that only Sekyeong has introduced to me”.
